It’s been a while since I updated my blog with what I’ve been up to, so I thought now would be the perfect time to give you a bit of an update!
I was recently elected to be the Emerging Leaders representative on the City of London’s Advisory Committee on Heritage and it has been an educational and rewarding experience so far!
First of all, I’d like to say thanks to Sean and Emerging Leaders for allowing me this opportunity!
I’ve attended two meetings to date and both have been extremely interesting. I have to say that I have experienced a steep learning curve with trying to catch onto everything that’s been happening but it’s very exciting and I’m learning so much about heritage in the City of London. I have been able to apply my skills, knowledge and experience to these meetings, even if only briefly so far. I also sit on the Stewardship Committee which primarily deals with designations in the City.
I thought it would be important to note that these meetings are open to the public and it would be great to see more people come out to see what’s happening with heritage in the Forest City (the next meeting is on October 10th at 5:30pm).
I thought it would be important to raise the issue of engagement and “going social” in order to get more people involved and engaged in heritage. I am putting together a social media proposal in order to encourage more participation, to educate and inform.
I am looking forward to engaging more young people (and citizens in general) in the community and getting our heritage on!
I’d like to know your thoughts about heritage in the City of London!
